The lack of a quorum at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is preventing the final approval, and commencement of construction, of natural gas pipeline projects throughout the country. These delays have sidelined over 100,000 construction workers and hundreds of millions of investment in equipment and materials provided by the supply chain. Commissioners needed to restore a quorum have been nominated, and all that is needed is for the Senate to act to confirm them – a simple majority vote that would take no more than an hour.
To turn up the heat on the Senate to act, Energy Builders mobilized to send individual letters to their Senators urging immediate action. Over 500 letters have been sent to Senators during the month of July. EEIA also sent its own letters to both President Trump and Senate Leaders Mitch McConnell and Charles Schumer. Also significantly, Energy Builders sponsor EEIA organized a “sign-on” letter to the Senate, signed by the CEOs of 25 major national trade associations and labor organizations, urging immediate action.
