Energy Builders Testifies to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in Support of Atlantic Sunrise

EEIA’s Toby Mack traveled to Lancaster PA June 12 to testify in support of the Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline, designed to carry natural gas to market from the northeastern PA Marcellus formation. The hearing was held by the Pennsylvania DEP to gain input needed to approve permits for the pipeline’s water crossings. Member Cleveland Brothers Equipment also provided supportive testimony. The pipeline, a project of Williams Companies, has already been approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Construction will commence this fall after the Pennsylvania permits are issued.

Mack’s testimony cited that “the number of jobs dependent on or created by this pipeline rises to nearly 40,000, both here in Pennsylvania and throughout America where the supply chain’s manufacturing, construction and distribution operations are based.”

Energy Builders also conducted a letter-writing campaign to the PA DEP urging the issuance of the necessary water crossing permits. Sixty-five members submitted letters to the Department supporting issuing the permits.
