West Virginia, Criminal Activity Surrounding Pipeline Construction

West Virginia’s State Intelligence/Fusion Center reported in late February that they anticipate increased criminal activity surrounding opposition to pipelines. Recent activity included spreading tire spikes on a road heavily used to transport people, materials and equipment to sites supporting construction of Atlantic Coast Pipeline, Rover Pipeline, Mountaineer Express Pipeline and Mountain Valley Pipeline.

The Center believes that extremists will continue to target roadways heavily used by construction crews, and notes that these roads are also used by school buses, emergency vehicles and the public. They urge people traveling these routes to be cognizant of suspicious persons and activities, and to report suspicious activity to the West Virginia Intelligence/Fusion Center.
